CORE

The Forward Thinking Showcase is an online event that strives to give exposure to puzzle videogames, those that promote planning, thinking ahead, connecting information, finding clues and ultimately the answer, featuring new game reveals, exclusive gameplays,  release date announcements and first look at fresh new demos and DLCs.

The showcase will be of around 1h long and published as a pre-recorded live video on Mael Duin's YouTube channel, and kept as a VOD there afterwards.

FORMAT

MORE

Along with the main show, there will be a parallel Steam event, extended developer interviews and  hands-on gameplay.

The Forward Thinking Showcase is an annual event, that is published in early January each year, showcasing (and looking forward to) new puzzle games and content that will be available within the year.

WHEN

WHO

Hosted by Mael Duin, the showcase will also include collaborations with content creators from the puzzle games community in different ways. Their work or themselves may appear during the show.

The submissions period opens from August 1st to October 31st, each year. Selected participants will be contacted right after, with their content expected to be submitted as late as early December, and the actual event airing early January. The Steam event will be active from the day of the showcase.

SCHEDULE

CRITERIA

“Puzzle games” is an umbrella term and therefore there is no defined line to what is considered one. If a game promotes planning and thinking ahead, searching, asking questions, figuring things out and making connections between pieces of information, chances are that it can be part of the showcase. If a game has puzzles as a secondary mechanic and they are not the core of the gameplay (Resident Evil, Zelda, Tomb Raider) then it’s not a puzzles game first. If in doubt, it’s better to apply, but it's also advised to not try your luck if you already know your game doesn’t qualify.

The best way to support the event is by spreading the word, mentioning it to others and reposting announcements on socials. And undoubtedly watching the show (preferably live!) and adding the games featured to your wishlist. Thanks in advance!
